Bournemouth Central on the last day of Southern steam on 9th July 1967, sees Brush Type 4 No. D1924 waiting to depart with the last 'Up' Bournemouth Belle service to London Waterloo. It was also the last day for the station name, as from 10th July 1967 it became just Bournemouth. New from Loughborough in December 1965 and allocated to Cardiff Canton (86A), the loco became Class 47 No. 47247 under TOPS in December 1973 and No. 47655 in June 1986. It finally became No. 47810 in March 1989 and carried the names 'Porterbrook', 'Captain Sensible' and 'Peter Bath MBE 1927-2006'. It is still in regular use, owned by the Harry Needle Railroad Company and leased to Direct Rail Services.
