Bolton MPD on 21st April 1968 with Stanier Class 5MT 4-6-0 No. 45394 sharing company with Stanier Class 8F 2-8-0 No. 48773. The 'Black 5' was new as LMS No. 5394 from Armstrong Whitworth in August 1937, while the '8F' was new as No. WD70500 from the North British Locomotive Company, Glasgow, in June 1940. It was puchased for BR from the War Department in September 1957 and numbered 48773. The loco is preserved on the Severn Valley Railway.
