Only recently withdrawn and with part of its motion removed, Stanier Class 5MT 4-6-0 No. 44887 awaits its fate at Carnforth MPD on a frosty 3rd February 1968. New from Crewe Works as LMS No. 4887 in August 1945 and first allocated to Southport (23C), it was withdrawn in December 1967 and cut-up by Drapers of Hull during the month that this photograph was taken.
