Passing St Walburge's Church and the site of the former MPD, Brush Type 4 diesel electric No. D1952 comes off the Blackpool line and approaches Preston on 10th June 1967 with a train for London Euston. New from Loughborough in October 1966 and first allocated to the Western Lines (LMR), it later became Class 47 No. 47508 and carried the name 'Great Britain' from March 1979 until July 1985. The loco was withdrawn in May 1993 and was cut-up on site at Bristol Bath Road Depot by MRJ Philips during November 1995.
