The Berks and Hants extension line was taken on from its original terminus at Hungerford with a wide span bridge over this Salisbury to Oxford coaching road. A couple of bridges later the route still provides easy passage through the town with very little impact on life in the High St - after properties there had been demolished to make way for the abutments! So it's uneventful when Class 66/7 No. 66710 'Phil Packer BRIT' sweeps through at the head of the 2000 tonne Tytherington to Appleford loaded aggregates on 14th March 2024.
