On a sunny 2nd August 1971, Brush Type 4 diesel electric No. 1659 waits at Cardiff General with an un-identified working for Swansea. New from Crewe Works in February 1965 and first allocated to Landore (87E), it became Class 47 No. 47075 under TOPS in March 1974. The loco was re-classified 47/4 No. 47645 in February 1986 and was named 'Robert F Fairlie Locomotive Engineer 1831-1885' by the Chairman of the Ffestiniog Railway at Bleanau Festiniog on 1st May 1986, a name it retained until February 1990 when the loco suffered a serious fire and was subsequently withdrawn. The end came at MC Metals, Springburn, during April 1992.
