On 1st March 2011 the Government's Transport Secretary anounced that electrification of the Great Western Main Line would be extended as far as Cardiff, this has been seen as a disappointment as it was generally hoped that Swansea would be the western destination. This decision will ultimately see the end of the HST in squadron service between the capital cities of England and Wales and sights such as this will be consigned to memory. On the day of the anouncement an unidentified HST works the 11.15 Paddington to Cardiff Central through the village of Undy, near Severn Tunnel Junction.
