On Good Friday (18th April 2014) the Dean Forest Railway celebrated the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the Type 1 Diesel-Hydraulic locomotives (eventually to be classified under TOPS as Class 14) on to the Western Region of British Railways by using two of the preserved examples on both passenger and freight services working both singly and in multiple, giving passengers many different opportunities for haulage variation. This shot shows Nos. D9555 and D9521 about to enter the northern terminus at Parkend with the 10:40 departure from Lydney Junction.
