The first visit to Swansea of an LMS 'Princes Royal' Pacific occurred on 19th June 2010 when No. 6201 'Princess Elizabeth' deputised for 70013 working the Didcot to Swansea leg of 1Z53 'The Red Dragon' which commenced at 07.06 from Solihull behind 5043. Operated in conjunction with First Great Western to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the formation of the Great Western Railway. The link between the event and this locomotive being that the 'Princess Royal' class was designed by Sir William Stanier, a former Great Western employee. This image shows the massive Pacific coasting down the grade from Landore Junction to Swansea station, behind the trees on the left may be seen the FGW Depot at Landore.
