On the 2nd May 2016, Bristol St Philips Marsh HST Depot hosted the '40 Years 1976-2016' open day marking 40 years since the introduction of HST services on many Inter-City routes throughout the UK. One of the star exhibits at the event was Class 253 HST power car No. W43002 which had been outshopped in its original livery. The power car also received the name 'Sir Kenneth Grange' and in addition, a plaque was unveiled marking the milestone which is seen in this photograph.
