On 18th & 19th July 2015 the Middleton Railway celebrated their Anniversary of the completion of the 1st Locomotive from the Hunslet Engine Company on 18th July 1865. Here, 0-6-0 Diesel No. 1697 'John Alcock', (built in 1932 and worked as a shunter at a number of different locations before being purchased by the Middleton Railway Preservation Society who loaned it to the National Railway Museum between 1978 & 1989 before returning to the Middleton Railway) crosses Moor Road working the 12:35 service from Balm Road to Moor Road Station on 19th July 2015.
