Haresfield Level Crossing on 3rd April 1969. The Midland Railway signal box had been reduced to the status of a ground frame, controlling the crossing gates and associated locking, under Stage 3B of the Gloucester MAS scheme, which covered the section from Tuffley Junction to Standish Junction and was brought into use between 22:00 on 14th September 1968 and 20:00 on 15th September 1968. The box remained in use until the level crossing was closed to vehicular traffic and was replaced by a pedestrian foot crossing, controlled by miniature red and green warning lights. Note the outside toilet at the rear of the box, the carriage body and gas lamp. Haresfield station, which served only the MR lines, was opened on 29th May 1854 and closed on 4th January 1965.
