Brush Type 4 diesel electric No. 1100 calls at Exeter St Davids on 22nd May 1971 with 4M05, a Penzance - Crewe parcels service. New from Crewe Works in August 1966 and first allocated to York (50A), D1100 became Class 47 No. 47298 under TOPS. It had a charmed life, being twice withdrawn and then reinstated, the first time in December 1989 and then a longer period from January 1999 to November 2002. It was finally withdrawn in April 2007 and scrapped by CF Booth at Rotherham during the following month. The loco was named 'Kestrel' from September 1989 to May 1990 and 'Pegasus' from July 1990 to January 1999.
