A sunny Sunday 4th August 1968 and the day that Rose Grove MPD (10F) closed. A long climb up the coaling tower but well worth the effort, the shed yard is seen with Stanier Class 8F 2-8-0 Nos. 48393, 48727, 48400 and 48423 idling away their final hours. All four were withdrawn that day and, although coaled, it is unlikely that they saw any further service. It was 'open house' to enthusiasts that day and a fine array of 60's road transport can be seen, including the green BR Commer van. Rose Grove had the shed code of 24B from 1950 to 1963. The whole site now lies beneath the M65 motorway.
