GBRf Class 66/7 No. 66722 "Sir Edward Watkin" heads south through Copmanthorpe with the 6H93 Tyne Coal Terminal - Drax PS loaded coal hoppers, on the morning of Thursday 25th April 2013. Incidentially Sir Edward was Chair of the MS&LR which built the last railway link into London, the next nearly a hundred yrs later was HS1. A member of Parliment, at his peak he held Directorships of 9 Railway companys and was trustee on another. He also was a visionary espousing a central high speed rail link north/south through England (HS2??).
