The bay platforms at Crewe were usually neglected by photographers. On 17th May 1985 a Derby Works built Class 108 two-car DMU has just arrived from Chester and will now form a return working. Motor Brake Second No. M51922 is nearest the camera. Wolverton Works built Class AM4 EMU No. 304031 stands in the adjacent platform with a stopping service for Liverpool Lime Street. M51922 is still active in preservation.
