Staythorpe Crossing signal box was built as late as October 1950 as a consequence of the construction of a new power station and was subsequently extended later as a second power station was constructed. The box was due for replacement but has now had a reprieve for the forseeable future and consequently it has had a face lift which was completed on Thursday 21st April 2011. A new floor covering and hot water tap replacing the boiler, a very good repaint and new double glazed windows. This will help greatly in the winter as it was always a draughty box and not easy to keep warm during the coldest weather. The photograph was taken on a gloriously sunny Saturday 30th April 2011.
