East Midlands Trains has acquired a small number of ex Northern Class 156 units. De branded by Northern and carrying EMT's decals the units all still however retain their distinctive purple Northern Livery. Here No. 156497 is seen approaching Rectory Junction and Nottingham on Wednesday 30th November 2011 at 12.11 with the on time 2S10 10.16 Skegness - Nottingham. The Bridge is carrying the original GNR Nottingham to Grantham line over the Trent and was constructed in 1850; the newer concrete structure leading away from the viaduct to the right is the much more recent Cotgrave Colliery Branch viaduct. It opened as recently as 1960 and had a useful life of only 33 years after Cotgrave Colliery ceased coaling in 1993.
