Brush Type 4 diesel electric No. 1762 runs through Peterborough on 20th August 1971 with a Edinburgh - London King's Cross express. New from Loughborough in September 1964 and first allocated to Tinsley (41A), it became Class 47 No. 47167 under TOPS in 1973 and was named 'County of Essex' at Witham Station on 2nd August 1979. It went on to be numbered 47580 in May 1980, losing its name in August 1993. It was then re-numbered 47732 and named 'Restormel' in June 1994, being finally withdrawn from service in April 2004. It was saved for preservation by the Stratford 47 Group, re-numbered 47580 and renamed 'County of Essex' at the Tyseley 100 Gala on 28th June 2008. The loco is based on the Mid Norfolk Railway.
