Stanier Class 5MT 4-6-0 No. 44665 makes an impressive departure from Preston on 19th August 1967 with a Blackpool North - Glasgow Central working. The train had passed by in the opposite direction some fifteen minutes earlier and had gone 'round the loop' via Farington Curve Junction and Lostock Hall, to avoid reversal. New from Crewe Works in July 1949 and first allocated to Sheffield Grimethorpe (19A), it was withdrawn in March 1968 and cut-up by Drapers of Hull during June of that year.
