English Electric 'Deltic' No. 9002 'The King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry' waits to depart from London King's Cross on 10th May 1969 at the head of the 11:00 service to Newcastle. New from Vulcan Foundry in March 1961 and first allocated to Gateshead (52A), the loco was named at York Station on 4th April 1963. It was the first 'Deltic' to receive blue livery and became No. 55002 under TOPS. Withdrawn in January 1982, the loco survives as part of the National Collection, based at York.
