During the railway's grand re-opening weekend, Class 37 No. D6729 (or 37029) which has been wonderfully restored into original 'as built' condition is seen in action. The loco has had an interesting post-privatisation life by becoming one of the first locos to operate charters under a private owner (Pete Waterman) having been bought off English, Welsh and Scottish Railway in the late 1990s. The loco then moved on to Direct Rail Services before falling into private ownership and being transformed at Barrow Hill workshops. Here we see her leaving North Weald at the rear of the train on the 12:00 departure to Coopersale.
