On Sunday 12th September 2010, the line between Ewell West and Epsom was closed to permit the removal of a footbridge over the railway. Trains reversed at Ewell West and ran 'wrong line' to Worcester Park, the site of the next crossover. Two class 66s (including No. 66098) and their engineering trains stand on the down line by the footbridge near Epsom, while demolition proceeds.
