It was an unusually busy day at Carlisle Citadel station on 14th September 2024. The normal WCML services had to accommodate ECML diversions. In addition, two rail charters arrived around lunchtime; both of which were directed into Platform 1. In this case, it resulted in a Northern Class 158 using the bay platform, platform 2, which is normal allocated to West Cumbrian Coast services and is usually occupied by Northern Class 156s. In this view, Northern Class 158, No. 158815, prepares to depart from platform 2 with the 12.25 Northern service from Carlisle to Newcastle.
