On 14th July 2024, LMS Stanier Class 5MT, Black 5 No. 44871, coasts through the outskirts of Rhyl with the 10:02 Liverpool Lime Street to Llandudno 'North Wales Coast Express' excursion. West Coast Railway Class 47 No. 47802 brings up the rear ready to take the whole consist back to Chester for a reversal after arrival at Llandudno, so that 44871 is once again at the front for the journey back to Lime Street later that same afternoon/evening.
