On 9th December 2023, New Mersey Rail Class 777 No. 777005 arrives back at Chester with the 11:12 Chester to Chester Wirral line service via Liverpool Central. The new 777 units are slowly replacing the 40 and year old Class 507 and 508 units and have recently started to appear on Wirral line services.
