On 26th on 27th and 28th August 2022 Barrow Hill Roundhouse celebrated the birthday of this iconic Midland Railway Roundhouse with an event entitled "150 and 2 Celebration Gala", the "and 2" signifying it was 2 years late due to the COVID Pandemic.
Here, Class 23 No. D5910 stands on the turntable and displays the 10 year's work already undertaken in converting it from Class 37 No. 37372 under the title "BABY DELTIC PROJECT". The loco has been significantly re-engineered to transform it into an accurate, working recreation of an English Electric / BR 'Baby' Deltic, although there is still much to do.
