Merseyrail sees regular visits of Class 73 locomotives as traction for the Rail Inspection Train which includes the Merseyrail 3rd rail network as part of its programme. Part of the programme includes a stopover at Liverpool Lime Street where, on 7th June 2022, Class 73/9 No. 73965 Des OBrien awaited departure with the Liverpool Lime Street - Southport leg being worked in top and tail mode with classmate No. 73964 Jeanette.
