The branch line from Morecambe to Heysham Harbour sees just one return daily passenger working which connects with the ferry to the Isle of Man. In addition, there is a weekly working to the Nuclear Power station to collect low level nuclear waste for processing at Sellafield. On 14 May 2021 DRS Class 68s Nos. 68002 Intrepid and 68017 Hornet pass Sandylands en route to Heysham Harbour from Morecambe with the 12:40 Sellafield - Heysham Harbour working. The locomotives are operating in top and tail mode as there are no run round facilities at Heysham.
