GB Railfreight Class 73/9 No. 73962 Dick Mabbutt stands at Newton for Hyde as it works the 20:59 Warrington Bank Quay to Hadfield route learning trip on 3rd May 2021. Hired to Colas, the 'ED' was making several runs between Guide Bridge and the terminus on the former Woodhead route to Sheffield, running via Glossop to cover all sides of the triangle at Dinting. The trainee driver gets his first go at pressing the plunger on Newton station, a device which communicates to the signaller that the train has arrived complete, and thus allowing the previous section to be cleared for the next train to enter.
