The ECML was again closed between Newcastle & Edinburgh on 12th October 2019, necessitating LNER Services to be diverted along the Tyne Valley between Newcastle Central and Carlisle. Here, LNER Class 43/2 HST No. 43307 passes Wetheral Station (opened in 1836 and re-opened in 1981) on its approach to the Grade II listed, 1880's Passenger Footbridge, heading the 09:52 Aberdeen to London King's Cross Service. Its Classmate No. 43300 'Craigentinny 100 YEARS 1914-2014' was on the rear of the train.
