On the 9th May 2017, a Virgin Class 390, 9 car Pendolino No. 390044 "Virgin Lionheart" is seen passing Kitchen Hill, just to the north of Penrith, with a Virgin service from London Euston to Glasgow Central, via Birmingham New Street.
