NRM owned LNWR 'Precedent' 2-4-0 No. 790 'Hardwicke' stands in the South Yard at the National Railway Museum's 'Railfest' Event at York on 10th June 2012. Built in 1892, it gained its celebrity speed-record status during 'The races to the North', covering the 141 miles from Crewe to Carlisle in 126 minutes on August 22nd 1895, thereby reducing the Euston-Carlisle journey time by 1 hour & 15 minutes.
