Built as No. D3850 by BR Horwich Works and entering service during September 1959 this image taken 56 years later on 10th September 2016 shows the loco stabled in Brownhills Shed Yard on the Chasewater Railway and gives No. hint of her longevity. In Railway Support Services (RSS) grey livery and carrying her BR TOPS number, Class 08 No. 08683 has just received an overhaul at Andrew Goodman's Yard in nearby Wishaw and is ready to go out on hire. Of note in this image is the WI, Wishaw, shed code just visible below the TOPS panel on the lower cabside and the modified coupling fitted to the back of the loco to enable direct attachment to modern rolling stock.
