The first day of the Isle of WightSteam Railway 2016 operating season is greeted with glorious Spring sunshine and an abundance of primroses by the line side. Ivatt Class 2 2-6-2T No. 41298 emerges from Briddlesford Copse on 17th March 2016, with the 15:11 from Smallbrook to Wootton. Built at Crewe in 1951, it was one of the last of its type to be withdrawn by BR in 1967. Now one of only four to have survived, this was the first day in traffic for the locomotive, having arrived on the island in November 2008.
