Tyne & Wear Metro No. 4016 lead by No. 4022 departs Wallsend Metro Station en-route from St. James to South Shields via Tynemouth and Newcastle city centre on 2nd July 2015. Note the bi-lingual English-Latin platform and no-smoking signs. About 2000 years ago, Latin was the language of the locals although the Metro had not yet started running at that time! Segedunum Roman Fort, at the eastern end of Hadrian's Wall, is about ΒΌ mile from the Station.
