Metre-gauge Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn EMU Class BDSeh 4/8 No. 2051 'Castor', having departed Matterhorn Terminal, Tasch, follows the course of the adjacent Mattervispa river and begins to cross the 1,449 metre high Mattertal Valley, working the 08:55 Shuttle service from Zermatt on 27th June 2014. Matterhorn Terminal, Tasch is the transfer point for travellers to car-free Zermatt who park their vehicles in one of its 2,100 covered parking spaces and take the train. The only alternative mode of travel to Zermatt is the Taxi service from Tasch. The Monte Rosa Massif, which incorporates Swithzerlandâ??s highest peak (Dufourspitze, 4,634 m); the second-largest glacier in the Alps, the Gorner Glacier; and a total of 29 mountains above 4,000 m, including the Matterhorn can be seen at the head of the valley.
