Stanier Class 8F 2-8-0 No. 8233 waits to depart from Bridgnorth on 24th May 1970 with a service for Hampton Loade. New from the North British Locomotive Company in June 1940, LMS 8233 was requisitioned by the War Department in December 1941 and sent to work in Persia. It was overhauled at Derby Works on repatriation in 1952 and then worked on the Longmoor Military Railway as No. WD 500. The loco was purchased by BR in September 1957 and renumbered 48773. Withdrawal came at the end of BR steam in August 1968.
