The end is very close for 'Merchant Navy' Class Pacific No. 35012 'United States Lines' and 'West Country' Pacific No. 34044 'Woolacombe' as they wait entry into the scrapyard of J Cashmore at Newport on 22nd October 1967. They had both been withdrawn a few months earlier, 35012 from Nine Elms during April and 34044 from Bournemouth during May.
