Following their reported failure with BR the Class 14 fleet was offered for sale to industrial concerns, one of which was the British Steel Corporation (BSC) for use in its ironstone quarries in the Northamptonshire / Lincolnshire area.
The demonstration locomotive was No. D9539 which subsequently became BSC51, here seen in Shotwick Quarry collecting ironstone for the nearby Corby Steelworks.
