LMS Class 8F 2-8-0 No. 48683 simmers in the yard at Northwich MPD on 7th September 1967. New as LMS No. 8683 from Brighton Works in January 1944, it gained its BR identity during September 1948. Having spent its entire service life in the North West at Heaton Mersey, Edge Hill, Warrington Dallam and Northwich, the loco was withdrawn in February 1968 and cut up by G Cohen of Kettering during August of that year.
