Double-heading the Stockport Edgeley - Todmorden - Preston leg of 1L66, the Warwickshire Railway Society 'North Western Steam Tour', Stanier Class 5MT 4-6-0 No. 44949 and Standard Class 5MT 4-6-0 No. 73069 make a water stop at Rose Grove West Signal Box on 18th May 1968. As was usual with these specials, there are people everywhere. Note the passenger climbing back into the first coach. Other motive power used on the day were No. E3058 Coventry - Stockport Edgeley and return, No. D7515 Preston - Blackpool North and return, No. 70013 Preston - Hellifield- Morecambe Promenade, and Nos. 44949/73069 Morecambe Promenade - Northwich - Stockport Edgeley. No. 44949 was withdrawn the following month and was cut up by Drapers of Hull. No. 73069 was withdrawn in August 1968 and met its end at Cashmores of Newport.
