Stanier Class 8F 2-8-0 No. 48493 between duties at Rose Grove MPD on 14th June 1968. New as LMS No. 8493 from Horwich Works in August 1945 and first allocated to Staveley Barrow Hill (18D), the loco soldiered on to the very end of BR steam and was withdrawn in August 1968. The loco was cut-up during April 1969, believed to be at Wards of Beighton, and the last ex-BR steam loco to be scrapped by them.
