The East Lancs Railway [ELR] operates its main services as Santa Specials during December of each year when trains are operated in top n tail mode with a steam and diesel locomotive. On 21st December Class 47 No. D1501 approaches Irwell Vale with the 11:55 Rawtenstall - Bury service which included WC Class Pacific No. 34046 Braunton at the rear.
