Meiringen is one of the bases of the ZentralBahn [ZB] which operates, among others, the Interlaken - Luzern service. On 23rd April 2012 new Class 160 unit No. 160002 was noted there being examined by engineers prior to introduction to service later this year as part of its stock upgrade programme.
