The first of the 4 scheduled winter Cumbrian Mountain Expresses ran on February 4th 2012 when Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 45305 worked the Preston - Carlisle - Carnforth stages with Class 86 86259 Les Ross worked the WCML stages to / from Euston.
45305 was noted breasting Hoghton Summit en route to Blackburn and the Ribble Valley to Hellifield.
