Bottesford West Junction is a lovely GNR box set just within the Leicestershire border on the Nottingham - Grantham line. Bottesford once had 5 boxes, one for each point of the compass and a 5th at the station. West Junction is all that remains as it was the last box to lose its junction when The Lowfield Branch from this location to Newark closed in 1987. The box is now a straight forward block post between Allington Junction and Bingham and in the Network Rail 'vision' is due to be consigned to history in 2014. The photograph is taken looking east as the sun rises on a sunny Saturday morning, on 22nd October 2011.
