The end of operations for Class 29 locomotives came in late 1971 when the Class was replaced by transfer of LM-based Class 27s. On September 30 1971 No. D6129 was stored on Eastfield Depot awaiting its fate - which turned out to be cutting up at the nearby Shettleston scrapyard.
