Sugar Loaf Halt sees few paying passengers, but many use it to view the passes of a steam hauled excursion such as this one, the Railway Touring Company's 'Heart of Wales' nearing the summit after a climb of about 5-miles and about to plunge into the tunnel located behind the photographer. The excursion, 1Z60, 07.31 Manchester Victoria to Newport was steam hauled from Shrewsbury to Cardiff Pengam Yard on 21st May 2011 by LMS 8F number No. 48151 'Gauge O Guild'.
