Stanier Duchesss Class 8P 4-6-2 No. 6233 Duchess of Sutherland made its first attack of Shap on May 8 when it pwered a Gloucester - Carlisle charter over the Crewe - Carlisle - Crewe legs. The loco was caught at Greenholme making its powerful assault of the lower climb out of Tebay with its 12-coach load.
